I passed the exam!!!!! The class was very helpful.

J. Bailey

Hello Dr. Chelapati,

I wanted to send out a big Thank You to Dr. Afshin and Dr. Allie for their teachings in the PE Power class this passed spring. I found out today that I passed my PE Exam in Ohio. I know that the knowledge and experience of both Afshin and Allie contributed greatly to my passing grade. I have truly become a better engineering for simply taking the class, no matter what the score of the exam.

I do not have Afshin or Allie's e-mails and would ask that you pass this email onto them so I can properly say thanks. Also, thanks to you for your design of this program and your texts to assist young engineers around the country.

Thanks again,
C. Wlodyka

Mr. Pavlik,

We've never met, but I know you having subscribed your online engineering survey review course. I simply reviewed the previous webinars so I could schedule my classes at the time convenient for me. I just found out that I passed the test on my first try. I want to thank you for your well presented and thorough classes. Although I'm a LSIT (25 years since I took the test), I have not practiced in surveying. I felt that you gave proper attention to what we needed to learn. Please continue to warn your students that this exam will test their time management skills. Unlike the seismic exam, nobody leaves the surveying exam early. You're working right up to the end, and I even had to guess on the last few (used your clock theory on picking the letter). On a few problems which I knew how to do, I sped through them and got an incorrect answer. I skipped them, and then returned to them at the end. When I went through at a more careful pace, I came up with a correct answer. Lesson is fast is not always the right pace.

Thanks again for a well run class. I actually enjoyed diving back into surveying for a brief time, but and glad that I passed.

Dr. Chelapati,

I attended your Electrical-Power seminar as a internet/remote student living in North Carolina in your Spring 2010 seminar. I sat for the October 2010 PE exam and received word last week that I had successfully passed! I wanted to thank you for providing this curriculum to young Engineers like myself. I live in a very small town where physically attending similar PE exam review courses is not easily done. In light of this, the IIT seminar was a blessing. I found the exam itself to be quite challenging, however IIT's extensive review of "core" power concepts and important problems provided me a skill set going into the exam that I was able to execute under pressure. Again, I thank you for the thorough administrative efforts exhibited throughout your program and for such a knowledgeable and professional staff of instructors. With discipline, motivation, and your seminar, your "guaranteed pass" promise is a very real thing for young engineer's seeking licensure.

best,

Dr. CVC:

I took the courses offered by the Irvine Institute of Technology, under the direction of Dr. Chelapati, in preparation for the California Specific Structural engineering exam offered in October, 2010.

I took all the courses offered: Seismic ; Steel; Concrete and Wood and Masonry. The courses were all provided in a webinar – live style with the possibility to interact with the lecturer through a "chat" screen. The webinars were always originated from the same source, the Irvine Institute of Technology, while the attendants were from all different states. I for example reside in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The webinars were also recorded so that I could go back to any of the lectures any time I wanted at my own convenience in the place of my choice, my house or my office. If there was a section I was not clear on and I wanted to listen again, I could easily go back and repeat.

In addition to the lectures we did get homework for each class. The homework had a deadline so between the review of the lectures and the homework the preparation for the exam was pretty extensive and complete.

I am very satisfied with the course and I would recommend them to anyone preparing for the exam.

Things that I would suggest to improve upon:

  • It would be nice to have a time for questioning and answering, it could probably be done during the last 15 min. of a lecture and it does not have to be every lecture either.

  • I think it is important for the instructors to review our homework. If we are taking the courses for credit, homework need to be corrected. I had questions for the instructors at the end of my homework solution and the instructors who actually checked the homework were able to respond to my questions.

  • Jeremy Welton gave a type of homework that simulated exam problems. I think this was very good because it trained us for the type of problems that we encountered in the exam. It would also be positive for the instructor to tell us how long the homework should take us in terms of time so we "simulate" exam environment. For me, the challenge in the exam was not the lack of knowledge but the time management, i.e. : the time employed to cover the questions of the exam.

I hope this helps. Just let me know if you have any questions,

All the best,

Adriana

I have been very happy with the course so far. I have felt the greatest benefit for preparing for the exam when we review all of the NCEES Sample Exam problems as they relate to the topic that we are discussing that week. This is closest to the real exam as we can get.

S.M., Feb. 2010

I thought the review helped me a lot in the AM portion of the 8 hour exam, I breezed through it and when I finished I still had 1 hour to go.

I am pleased with my results and I'm glad to have taken the course.

E.C., Feb. 2010

I have found the course to be excellent overall. I had tried working just with reference materials, but my studying lacked focus and enthusiasm. Being in a virtual classroom helped get the juices flowing again. Even though there have been technical difficulties, your team has worked very quickly to get them resolved so that we can continue using the materials.

This was a great class!!!! I happen to work for a utility in energy conservation and use these formulas in providing energy rebates for efficient transformers, regenerative breaking, etc… and other electrical savings one achieves through conservation and DSM. You guys did a great class!! I learned a lot and will certainly promote the benefits to other students. I'm surprised the pacific northwest has nothing compared to what you folks had to offer… thanks again for everything !!!!

Dr. Chelapati,

I sat for the electrical PE exam and the course was really helpful in many aspects... One thing to mention is that the economics book you sent us was really a tremendous help and I have seen a couple of questions with exactly the same ideas but with different numbers in the exam. Hope I pass first time. Thanks again for the wonderful course and special thanks goes to Afshin Majd... He is really good. Also, Allie mentioned something as she was explaining the special application section that I have seen a question on.
